Radium is a miracle cure, Madame Curie an international celebrity, and luminous watches the latest rage. Until the girls who paint those watch dials begin to die. Based on the true story of the women and men who worked for the U.S. Radium Corporation in Orange, N.J., Radium Girls is a wry examination of the commercialization of science and the twin American obsessions with the pursuit of health and wealth.
This workshop production of Radium Girls is the culmination of the one-year Script Analysis class for NYU 2nd year students. In preparation for the production, D.W. Gregory was invited to Strasberg to meet the students, discuss her process, and a Q&A was moderated by teacher and director Lorca Peress.
To accommodate over 50 second-year students, each class is performing one act of the play in two productions.
